My Offsprings Plus the Bridey

Chip, Chelsea, Jordan, and Reenie...my childrens.....proud of them!!!!

Our Newest Fur Kid, Baby/Remington Reynolds, REMI

Baby was born here under our shed.  His family is gone but he made friends with our friend, Crystal, who tamed him.  For now, he lives on the porch but once he and our oldster, Hoots, make friends, he can move inside.  Hoots is old and is slowly fading from us.  We want his last days to be peaceful so the "Baby" stays outside for now.  They are working on a friendship. He is a sweet cat who chose us, just like Hoots did 14 years ago. We are slowly changing his name to Remi, short for Remington.  He has taken to Sam, so he chose the name for him.  Now we just need for him to answer to it.  No small feat!!!

Paul and his Critters!!!

I just came across this photo of Paul and his "kids".  These beauties are long gone now, but they are so much fun to watch.  Paul is a natural with his animals.

It's July!!!

Have you ever asked yourself why summer speeds by while winter lingers?
Probably not, but this year it seems to be going at rocket speed.  It is mostly because of an extra busy time for our family.  Our Spring wasn't normal so there was a late start to summer.  One day we were cold, and the next it was in the 90's.  Family events delayed planting, loss of my husband's job in April, also limited the amount of flowers I could put in my gardens.  Physical limits increase yearly as I age, which makes the gardening projects take longer.  One simple project, which used to take me
an afternoon, now take three afternoons. I will finally get all around to the
gardens, weeding accomplished, and the first one needs it again.  Yesterday I got some things planted, and it's almost the 4th of July.  I will be hoping for a late Fall so I can enjoy the labors I put in.

Jordan and Chelsea had a gorgeous wedding on June 13th.  It was very uncomplicated and very romantic and spiritual  They are now safely tucked into their little nest in Missouri, enjoying married life with their cat.
Her Mother commented about how strange it will be to not be thinking "wedding" all the time. The cake was very stressful, but it came out fine.
Past creations were much more elaborate, but this was very nice in the end.  I must admit that I felt a bit restrained in the creative department, but it turned out to be a large challenge for me.  It has been at least 10 years
since I've done a large cake, and weddings hold so much stress for success.
It came through great.  I'm waiting for Sam to download photos for me so I can post them on here.  Processes move slowly sometimes.

Reenie, Paul, Ann and Eve are all home on their farm.  Temperatures in Washington soared, which is very abnormal for them.  Their pond (relief) is being repaired so the water is low and they can't swim in it.  Few have
A/C out there either, so they are struggling to get through the heat.  I think we have traded weather, as our summer is very much like theirs usually is.
That's fine with me!!!  I don't do heat very well.  They enjoyed their three weeks away, but were very happy to be home with all their critters. I am praying that Sam gets a job and I will be heading out there for a visit in
September, hoping...praying!!!!

Sam is still on the hunt for employment.  There seem to be plenty of jobs
available, but just not the right fit for him.  He is even willing to sacrifice
his precious beard because he was told that it makes him seem older (it's white and I love it) which could hinder his being hired.  There are two jobs
hanging in the balance right now.   Seems he spends most of his life online searching, or communicating with agencies.  Things certainly have improved over the years.  We used to have to go to each place in person, fill out an ap, and then wait, and then interview (sometimes 2 times) before we
had any chance to be hired.  I can't count all the times I went through that
process.  Now he finds a job online, on lists that separate the categories, and
he simply sends his resume out.   Usually the agency will contact him back
for more information.  He's had several "phone interviews", which are used to do basic screening for qualifications.  He's had two "in person" interviews.  One said they are looking for a "less qualified" person, (thus the beard shaving) which means "younger" but they can't say that.  The second one was very short, and he hasn't heard back from them at this writing.  A new one popped up on Monday and looks very promising.  It's in the processing phase now.  Unlike the others, it's hourly but pays well.  They are looking for someone who will work 60 hour weeks!!  He said he would.
I think his reasoning (if there is any) is that it's not a permanent condition.
That is a lot of hours, and will eliminate any "life" he has apart from work.
After being unemployed, we do need all that we can get to "catch up".  Another factor that we take for granted is insurance.  We have caught many breaks to get us through, but medicine is unaffordable without insurance.
So, we are hanging in there through it all, keeping the faith that the Lord
has us, and is channeling Sam in the right direction.  It's not in our time, it's in His!

So, I have a summer with my husband home.  We have been chipping away at the work outside.  I know that condo is in the future, but for now I am enjoying my yard and gardens.  The trees may be a pain in the Fall, but the acre of woods, and another partial acre of trees are so gorgeous this time of year.  I just can't picture myself living in a small place, where there are no yards, or gardens.  My body is telling me something different though.
Every year gets more difficult physically.

I will report back in the Fall, unless I get some time to sit and write.  I had a bit of a fall yesterday and am resting my aches and pains today.  Later....
